Temperatures Soar

July Tale 2018

July saw no let off with over 25,000 hours worked, and 335 jobs completed. The summer weather just followed on from June with sky high temperatures across the board, hard ground fantastic for festivals, high temperatures not so good for the crew.

Crews were back in London building Lovebox & Citadel Festivals, then up to Oxford for Wilderness. After a two year break Rock City Site Crew was back at Camp Bestival & Bestival with follow on shows, Jockey Club shows across their network of race courses was in full swing whilst our production crews were still busy closer to home with the last of the Stadium shows mixed in with some one off outdoor events.

Our vehicles covered another 20,000 miles offset by an investment of £230 towards green renewable energy.

Mckelvey Reid Events picked up the monthly £100 charity draw (going to the charity Age UK) with a pick from the feedback forms, whilst our own Billy Finch (went artistic) and Richard Protheroe (Guy lost in a field) won the monthly photo completion.

Client insight – Camp Bestival

Camp Bestival is a British music festival, the “little sister” of Bestival, both organised by BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank. It is held annually, in July, at Lulworth Castle in Dorset and is targeted at families with small children, it has a capacity of 30,000. Rock City has been supplying the festival with personnel since day 1, specialising in site crew, our site crews take just over 2000 hours to build the spec and 1000 hours to dismantle, the site is unique having the castle open to visitors up to the last day does causing some obstacles operation wise but nothing that can’t be overcome, with some areas of the grounds off limits to machinery, vehicles and cars certainly stretched time lines and increased the work, huge emphasis is put on the creative side making the site look phenomenal.

Site build stats: 86 artic trucks worth of kit, 20km festoon, 46km heras, 10km pedestrian barrier, 4km met barrier, 222 signage structures, 80 ton of scaff installed.
