Fifteen Years of Download

May Table 2018

May for us is always a big ramp up in numbers and jobs, all the hard work at the start of the year in training and building teams is put to the test, with over 25,000 hours worked, and 300 jobs completed.

Our three key areas of supply Product (Marquee, Staging and Seating) Production (Venue) and Site (Festival) all kicked in. Four self-contained vehicles fully equipped started their 4 month cross country Marquee build for 3 national suppliers, the stadium shows had started with Beyonce, whilst We Are FSTVL and Download began their builds, there was great optimism within the crew with the order book for the summer already full.

Our vehicles covered 20,000 miles offset by an investment of £230 towards green renewable energy.

Richmond Event Management picked up the monthly £100 charity draw (going to Alzheimers UK) with a pick from the feedback forms, whilst our own Adam Hall (Set up Admirals Insurance Party Principality Stadium) and Eduardo Portillo (Himself in a lighting check) won the monthly photo completion.

Client insight – Download Festival 2018

Download Festival is a British Rock Festival, held annually at Donnington Park in Leicestershire, England, since 2003. It is the most popular British summer Rock & Heavy Metal Festival and has hosted some of the genre’s biggest names including Metallica, Iron Maiden and AC/DC. Promoted by Live Nation and looked after by Festival Republic, Rock City has been supplying site crews from the outset.

As a site crew we install all the fence and barrier requirements, erect all signage structures, install festoon runs, road and walkways alongside general site maintenance, creative dressing, IT, Site Health and Safety and basically greasing the cogs to make sure all the other contractors are able to work without hindrance whilst building a site at the same time.

Download capacity (110,000), is the quickest built site in the country taking 15 days to build, with 4 show days, and a mere 9 days to dismantle, (all weather dependant), 20 crew all varying in skills put in 12hr days, nonstop for the length of the contract massing 6000 hours.

Site build stats: 86 artic trucks worth of kit, 20km festoon, 46km heras, 10km pedestrian barrier, 4km met barrier, 222 signage structures, 80 ton of scaff installed, 20 crew, 6000 hours.

Some before and after shots of the build below, with additions of Download Crew 18 and some vehicle restriction zones being built.
